MINNEAPOLIS (June 14, 2016) - LocalizationGuy, LLC, is proud to be a 2017 Bronze Sponsor of Translators without Borders (TWB). LocalizationGuy has a multi-year involvement supporting this innovative translation volunteer program.
"I believe that Translators without Borders helps us achieve the highest aspirations of our industry," said Aki Ito, LocalizationGuy President and Lead Consultant. "This organization makes positive use of the technologies and talented, caring individuals in localization and translation to provide access to life-saving information around the world."
TWB provides people with access to vital information in their own language by connecting non-profit organizations with a community of professional translators, building local language translation capacity and raising awareness of language barriers. In 2017, TWB reached its milestone goal of translating over 40 million words in over 150 languages in the areas of crisis relief, health and education. These efforts represent more than $1 million per year in pro bono translation services to non-profits.
TWB has responded to urgent crises around the world. In 2016 TWB was able to respond to the European refugee crisis, the hurricane in Haiti and the Zika virus emergency by providing vital information to affected communities in a language they can understand. The financial support provided by sponsors is critical to sustaining and growing the organization.
“I support this great organization because it is a powerful example of the capacity for doing good when we break down language and cultural barriers with information and concern for others,” said Ito.
