Get to the Heart of MT at TAUS Fall 2017 Events

Published Tuesday, September 12, 2017

MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 12, 2017) - The Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) has three fall events that will provide insights into the latest trends in machine translation and automation technologies impacting the translation and localization industry, including the "neural wave" that is disrupting the way MT works, changes in the way data is used and shared, as well as methods of evaluating quality. TAUS Representative LocalizationGuy, LLC, is offering a special promotional code that will save non-members 40 percent on registration for the TAUS Annual Conference, the TAUS QE Summit and the TAUS Data Summit.

The TAUS Annual Conference will be held at the Westin San Jose Hotel in San Jose on October 30-31. This is a once a year event for industry insiders and newcomers to gain insights on the translation industry and discuss strategies and opportunities for collaboration. People attending the TAUS conference gain knowledge and valuable contacts. The themes discussed at the TAUS Annual Conference 2017 are the themes that really matter: people, technology, data, how we measure quality, the customer, machine translation, speech-to-speech and innovation. One interesting new topic of discussion at the conference will be the "neural wave" and self-learning machine translation engines and the impact they are having on translation automation. The TAUS QE Summit, hosted by eBay, will be held at the eBay Orchard Campus on November 1. This summit is focused on measuring quality, and is arranged in a flow of presentations, panel discussions and Q&A sessions of five key areas impacting quality, including topics such as global content strategy, enterprise implementation, customer satisfaction, evaluating MT systems and the quality management road map. The TAUS Data Summit, hosted by Google, will be held at the Google Mountain View Campus on November 2. The summit will consider the concept of data ownership and where we have been - private ownership - to where we are going - publicly available translation data used by neural network translation systems. The TAUS Data Summit will bring owners and producers of language data together with the ‘power users’ and MT developers to learn from each other and to find common ground and ways to collaborate. The objective of the one-day event is to define an open market for language data in which all parties can benefit. Link for more information.
